SMYTHSON OF BOND STREET
BACKGROUND

Smythson of Bond Street is a British manufacturer of luxury stationery,
leather goods, diaries, and fashion products based in London, England.
Frank Smythson opened his first shop in 1887 at 133, New Bond Street,
London. The Queen writes on Smythson's stationery and uses a Smythson
diary. So does Prince Charles and so did Diana, Princess of Wales.
Smythson also provided black-bound visitors' books for President
Kennedy's funeral. Top end Smythson stationery uses exquisite detailing
such as 24-carat gilded edges, hand-painted borders, engraved motifs
and monograms. Smythson's men's luxury range includes handmade leather
travel accessories and luggage as well as beautifully-made luxury
leather wallets.

DESIGNER BRITAIN REVIEW
Smythson of Bond Street is one of the
great British success stories in the luxury goods industry over the
last twenty years. The brand has continued to prosper under independent
ownership and highly individualistic design direction. Smythson offers
customers a 21st century vision of leather craftsmanship, while
retaining all the positive aspects inherent in the British tradition.
One of the few independent British brands left with a flagship shop on
New Bond Street, Smythson has now connected with a new generation of
luxury goods shoppers who view it as a cool, high end, fashionable
brand. Smythson has also always taken the Internet seriously, and the
Smythson.com website is comparatively advanced in its scope and
interactive options for customers. Our current favourite from Smythson
is the Limited edition box of stunning correspondence cards designed by
Giles Deacon.
